Shade//Trees 2018-2019
During the July 4th 2018 celebration the mayor of my small village urged us all to cherish and protect the many century-old tree in our neighborhoods. This plea was prompted by unwanted solicitations of loggers who were tempting owners to cut down our "precious neighbors." Her plea came as my recent series of new "Tree Lamps" was ending. I thus set out to sculpturally invent new trees to cherish and protect. While in the midst of this series I got involved in painting the dappled patterns of the sunshine as the light passes through the foliage.
